Xbox copy save game from profile to profile Discussion in ' Skyrim Help ' started by inigio montanya , Nov 21, Just a quick question guys, accidently saved a game on the wrong profile.

Has worked for all my other games, however with skyrim, i get a message saying "this item cannot be transferred between profiles" this method has worked for my other games, however for this game, it does not work. Just wondering if anyone else has a tried and proven method to transfer my saved game between profiles?

Like x 1. Delvorak New Member. I had the same problem. I found a way to do it, although it's rather intensive.

You have to have access to a PC and a thumbdrive that you can use on the xbox. Run it. These are the profile ID's. FIgure out which one is the profile you are copying from, and which is the one you are copying to I used the names of the saved game files inside the directories to figure out which was which. Write down the profile ID for the profile you are copying the game to. CLick it. It should show you a list of the profile ID's on the thumbdrive. Select the profile you want to copy the game to.

Now if you turn on the console, go to system settings, memory, thumbdrive, games, skyrim, you should see the saved game with the new profile as the owner. You can either copy that to the harddrive, or just play the game off your thumbdrive. Hope it works for you! Like x 3 Useful x 2 Informative x 1. I suspect that the game data achievements are stored in the individual profiles. Either deselect some of the content, or use a USB drive with more capacity.

Transferring the content will take a while, depending on how much data you have selected. For games this can be anywhere between a few Mb 25 Mb for the classic Doom game up to several Gb for modern games. If you only wanted to move content from one XBox to another, then you can skip this step. In some cases you might need to enable your file browser Explorer, Finder, etc to see hidden files. Since there are many file browsers for the Linux platform, you might have to try Google to find what works for you.

We will need these files later. The steps are the same as we did in step 1, however this time we start with the USB drive as the source, and select the harddrive of your XBox as the destination.

I recommend formatting the USB stick in that case before you copy the files on it for the restore. The steps are the same as we did in step 1 and 3, where the USB device is the source and the harddrive of your XBox the destination. If you did this to make a backup, then you now have your XBox files safe and secure on your computer. If you only wanted to move files, then they are now on the other XBox Note : If you used to make a backup of your files, remember to execute steps 4, 5 and 6 to restore your files in the future.

Would this method work? Also If the newer drive is bigger will the partition change?

I have a WD black gb drive I want to use. I was just wondering what about for an xbox that has died. If I put my xbox live account on the new xbox, I will be able to download everything correct? I mean games and DLC, not save points or anything like that. If the old XBox is dead; this can be either the mainboard, power supply, or disk. Again it is modded. My retail XBox Slim is again maxed out at Gig. My old Phat has 1 Tb modded and my Slim is still using the stock harddisk.

If you are not already the owner, you will not be able to earn achievements for gameplay using this item. Hey Vote, I just took a look at this feature and I was unable to actually transfer a game save between profiles I received an error message indicating game progress cannot be shared between profiles. Were you able to successfully transfer a game save between profiles? If so, for what game was the save? As mentioned in my October 17th post, a game I can confirm it works with is the first Mass Effect.

Try the function with that game and you'll see that it works. Now I'm petty enough to go through every save I have on my hard drive to find another game that allows the profile swap function to work if you'd like, as I find it hard to believe that Microsoft would add it in if only Mass Effect 1 could take advantage of it.

Hey vote, no that won't be necessary but thank you! Also, apologies on not reading your previous post properly. Thanks in advance for any replies. This thread is locked.
