When you are actively using it, it will not unnecessarily slow you down. Also it does a good job scanning your computer via a boot cd or usb.
When you get it make sure and make a boot cd so you can scan your computer outside of windows if you ever have problems. Cons: None really. I saw someone below had a conflict with it but I can say with confidence that is extremely rare. Pros: It's NIS , it's good for 3 PCs, it's free after the rebate, and during their subscription, users are entitled to a free upgrade to subsequent versions.
Newegg got it to me so quickly I didn't have time to finish my tea. Cons: Lost an egg because Symantec technical support is mediocre. But Newegg-ers don't call technical support. Overall Review: I'll probably use the disc for target practice. All you need is the license number.
On the last day of my current NIS subscription, which has several months to run, I'll enter the new license number. By then NIS will probably be out, and I'll upgrade to it for free.
What's not to like? Pros: Fast and lightweight. I'm getting ready to upgrade my hardware and still I don't even notice it running in the background. One heck of a nice program now. Good job Norton! Cons: Don't really have anything here. I'm generally critical on software, especially AV type but been using this for a few years now and I simply have no complaints Pros: Norton IS is consistently rated at the very top and the is very good.
I am using it on 8 PCs that I maintain. I have tried to find out to process the rebate has had many complaints against it and left many loyal NewEgg customers furious, me included. And note: NewEgg will not assist you if you have problems getting your rebate even though they are aware of the problems with this rebate center - they continue to run new promotions using them after they have been asked not to.
Many very upset NewEgg customers have asked that they tell the manuufacturers they won't run promotions if this rebate center is used, but they continue to. What does that say about how they care for their customers? Cons: If you buy expecting to get the rebate you were entitled to without any issues, you may be VERY disappointed.
Overall Review: No loyal long-time NewEgg customer or brand-new customer should have to worry about buying products on NewEgg that have rebates.
NewEgg owes its customers to do at least the most minimal it can and that is TO STOP promoting products with rebates when it is aware that the rebate fullfilment center being used has a long histiory of problems. Cons: My issue is not with the program itself.
I have lost my respect for this company based upon their rebate process. This wasn't my first rodeo so I was aware that there are a number of hoops to jump through so I was very thorough in submitting my rebate.
Thorough to the point of scanning copies of my submission and taking a photo of the contents of the envelope. You may have to scroll down a little to see the CHAT button.
Feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems. Please let us know how you get on As Hugh said Customer Service can confirm this for you and will correct it if there is any sort of mix-up. I suggest you contact CHAT as suggested and point them to this special offer, ask them to get it for you and to add on your unexpired 1 PC days since you didn't realize that it was a 1 PC version Just an update noticed my laptop has a trial version of what appears to be NIS installed so just wondered if I could extend my current subscription when the trial runs out in 59 days or do I have to subscribe again at the same price.
I'll try and check with Symantec. You should wait until a couple of days before your trial period expires before entering your subscription product key. Since you appear to have a 1 computer license currently you will not be able to use the product key from the subscription on your first computer to extend your subscription on your new laptop.
However, as stated before you can confirm how many computers your current subscription entitles you to from Customer Service. If your purchase a new subscription for your laptop and waiting until a couple of days before your trial period expires, you can maximize the length of protection.
Both computers can still be linked to the same Norton Account whether they use the same or a different product key. After confirming your current license entitlement with Customer Service I would recommend that you consider purchasing a 3 computer subscription so that going forward all of your computers will use the same one. NOTE that the subscription period starts from the time you enter the product key on the first computer - e.
If you do in fact have a 3PC version then it does not really matter when you use the KEY for it to activate on your laptop because the subscription is already running on your earlier computer and they all run from the activation of the first. But if you do decide to buy a new 3 PC version to cover both then do wait before you apply the KEY to the laptop trial and then it will not begin to run until you activate for the first time on it.
If the product key was good for the new laptop computer then that suggests that you do in fact have the 3 computer version and not the single. Did you ask the Chat Customer Service representative to confirm if you have the 1 or 3 computer version? And if there was a mistake showing in your Norton Account and Chat told you that it was good for another computer then I would suggest checking your Norton Account again because it would seem that it should now show ONE remaining activation, after you use it to activate NIS on your new laptop.
