After all Windows files were copied the computer reboot and from this point on the monitor would repeatedly go in and out of power save mode, but this did not prevent the Windows XP install from running.
However, I was unable to see the prompts given by the XP installation, for example the naming of the computer. As most of you know if this prompt is not answered in this type of installation the installation will not continue. The way I solved this was by finally switching to a newer Samsung monitor which enabled me to see the prompts and continue with the installation of Windows XP. Hope it helps, good luck. It just seems to be denied by Microsoft. Currently I am unable to truly save a power scheme of my own. It just disappears. It does not matter if I use 'apply', or whatever. It is infuriating. The curious thing is that I had 2 power schemes of my own saved and working.
But suddenly, while trying to adapt them, they are just wiped. Besides all that, it is not guaranteed for ANY scheme to work. Not even the 2 default ones. Just upgraded 2 more systems using XP Home to the SP3, both no longer function with power management or screensavers. Seems that newer hardware doesn't have the same issue? Friday, August 15, AM. My computer, on first start, still does not retain it's power management settings, which is very dangerous as I am worried about screen burn-in.
Microsoft has done nothing to address this and we could possibly all pursue a class action lawsuit against them due to the issue causing damage to our systems.
