Google is your friend. Did you look at the second link I provided? You can modify the ribbon to remove existing "Groups", but not individual commands inside the default groups. My Word display just doesn't look like those. I've attached a screenshot that might help. I'm sure that I used to be able to switch in and out of LaTeX mode, and that there was a 'convert' button. It's a pity that people want to pay more for less power over their own computers.
But it looks like the disabled "Professional" and "linear" buttons are for Latex. I don't know why they are disabled. Two common possible causes come to mind. First is the insertion point is not in an appropriate location, like an equation for this situation.
The other is that the file type does not support the feature. As an experiment, try creating a new blank document insert an equation and with the insertion point inside the equation see if those buttons are active.
